Various events during the autumn
are taking place to raise money for St Mary’s Outward Giving. In addition
to this, £2,000 has already been raised for the Venture Scouts’ Kenya
Project. The scouts will give a presentation in church next February.

The Diocese has appointed a
builder to undertake refurbishing and decorating needed for inside the
Vicarage. Some further decorating may be necessary but could be undertaken
by a working party. Thanks were given to the small group of volunteers who
are ensuring the back and front gardens are kept tidy.

The Choir have requested new
robes. Some money is already available and the Council agreed to meet the
shortfall.

Procedures for appointing the
new incumbent are in place. Interviews take place on 5
November.

The church lights have been
re-adjusted to improve the internal lighting. The Quinquennial report on
the church building has been received and arrangements are in place to do
the recommended repairs. The new church gates, given in memory of Jean
Neighbour, have now been hung.

The new service sheet for All
Age Worship where there are no baptisms was welcomed. The Sunday Club is
looking for parents to help organise the Sunday sessions. It is hoped to
have the crèche open on as many Sundays as possible.

It was decided that there will
be no Advent groups this year.

From January the Offertory Party
will only require two not three people.

On Open House Weekend St Mary’s
had 110 visitors, and it was an enjoyable and worthwhile occasion.

Five Saturday Glebe working
parties have been arranged and it was reported that the chestnut trees
appear to be recovering.
