...with Peter Cook (Headmaster of the Purcell School 07) and
his Orchestra
The Gloria is a work of art consisting of 12 contrasting movements. The
chorus is frequently supported by strings, oboe and trumpet, giving the
sound a glittering sense of occasion.
This was written when Vivaldi, or as he was called in his day, (the red
priest due to his fiery character and red hair!) took responsibility for
compositions at the Venetian orphanage for women, the Ospedale della Pieta.
Peter Crook will rehearse it from scratch and will perform this masterpiece
at 7.30pm in the evening. Book your place immediately! we can only take 50
budding singers.
Ticket takings from the evening concert will be split between the church and
MIND, a mental health charity.
Peter taught me Harmony and Counterpoint at school and I assure you it will
be great fun, and a good performance.
Scores are provided.
Also featured is a Handel Organ Concerto, Played by Sue Brodie, and I will
play some organ music by Frescobaldi and Langlais.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Karl Dorman
Director of Music
