Vicar's June Letter

New PCC
Our new PCC. had its first meeting on May 19th.  We elected our Standing committee and Vice Chairman; we put ourselves onto various groups, and we discussed plans for the future.   Our two  wardens Hilary Yates and Barbara Clayton have also recommenced their duties with increased confidence and a lot of good will.

Security
Some local residents, including us at the Vicarage, have been the victims of opportunist thieves.  Please can I once again repeat what I said at the Annual Church Meeting?  Firstly, please pay due respect and care to the alarm system in the church.  We have had too many false alarms through human error and almost entirely from our own church members.  This is proving to be very costly both financially and with regard to the cover we receive from the security company.  Please do not enter the vestry door at any time when the church is open without first checking that the system is disarmed.  If you do not know how to do this then ask before entering the door.  Please think security when entering the church at all times.  Secondly, if the church is open when you are passing bye just pop in and check that everything is ok remembering what I have said above.  The cost of the security on the church is nearly £1,000 per annum

Talking Points – The issues that affect us all
This is the title of the special week we are holding from Monday 27th September until Friday October 1st.   The subjects that the speakers will address are politics, living in a multifaith society, education, relationships and science.  These subjects will be addressed from a Christian perspective.  Work is underway with regard to publicity and full details of the speakers and the timetable of the week will be issued shortly.  Meanwhile put these dates in your diaries; alert your families and friends and please respond to any appeals for help. Click here for more details.

Evening Praise
The Evening Praise on the fourth Sunday of every month at 1700 in the Hall has had an encouraging start.  New families have attended and many new contacts have been made.  We shall recommence these services on the Fourth Sunday in September which is September 25th.  There will be no such services during the summer.
