Let Everything that has breath Praise the Lord!

We all love singing hymns, the spiritual truths that they tell, combined with mostly wonderful harmony, makes them very special. But how well do we sing them?  - I have to say, compared to our Evangelical brothers and sisters, pretty half heartedly!

Playing for the Methodists at Coventry Central Hall highlighted this to me, the organ flat out could barely be heard over the voices. Why is this? The Church of England has the most broad range of congregational music ranging from Monk to Kendrick, some are better than others, but we sing almost in an embarrassed state when there is no need to.

St Mary's is hosting a Songs of Praise Service on July 16th where the parish's favourite hymns will be featured. I hope you will support this event, and I hope you will bring some enthusiasm and volume which can make the event a success, that can follow on into future worship at St Mary's.
