Our
parish house-to-house collection took place in strength again this year. I
am enormously grateful to everyone who participated. This annual event is a
very powerful means by which St Mary's is able to reach out to all those
living in the parish, gaining their participation, with us, in perhaps the
biggest issue of our times.
This year, as it happens, is the last in which I shall be organiser. My
place will be taken by Anne Carroll. Anne, now that she has retired from
Church Warden, has already taken on responsibility for the counting of what
has been collected this year. It is very good of her to take on this task so
immediately, for which she has my heartfelt thanks.
In retiring from organising our church activity with Christian Aid, I am
keenly aware of the great debt I owe to you the many people who, over the
years, have put your shoulders to the wheel in support. Thank you all, a
thousand times.
