PCC Notes, January 2008

The PCC last met on 17th January and the following points were raised.

  • St Mary’s is required to have a Health and Safety Statement of Intent which sets down arrangements for ensuring the safety of all those using the church and equipment. This document is being reviewed. It was brought to the attention of the Committee that everyone, including visitors are responsible for supporting this endeavour.

  • It is forecasted that there will be a financial deficit of £2,929. Our quota has risen by £2,000 and other expenses have increased. Planned giving donations need to increase to meet costs.

  • The Reverend John Hayward will be inducted on Tuesday 22nd April.

  • Anne Carroll steps down as Church Warden after her term of three years. The PCC are looking for her replacement.

  • The Faith and Worship Group reported that The Bishop of Kingston will conduct services on Palm Sunday and at Easter. If no priests are available during the week days of Holy Week the Lay readers will take Compline. The Vigil on Maundy Thursday will continue to midnight as long as at least two people are present at all times.

  • The Hall windows are being replaced. Those using the Hall are being asked to co-operate in sorting the rubbish they leave by putting all cardboard and paper into the containers provided.

  • A summer fair will be held this year on June 14th.

Full minutes of the meeting will be found in the Bell Tower after the next meeting on Monday 10th March 2008.
