John Eagles
I am sorry to have announce the resignation of our Musical Director John Eagles.  John has resigned for personal reasons but not least the demands of a full time job as well as his post at St Mary’s.  Many have appreciated John’s contribution to our choir training and the beauty and skill of his organ playing.  There will be a presentation to John after the 9-30am service on Sunday May 5th which in fact will be his last Sunday. Annual Church Meeting
This will have taken place on Sunday April 27th.  Patricia Hutchison will have completed her term of office as Warden.   Patricia has been a diligent caring and lively colleague and warden.  She has brought colour and style to the post and nobody can doubt the strength of her commitment to St Mary’s.  I am personally grateful to Patricia and although she can lay down the baton of being a churchwarden Patricia has taken up the challenge of organising the summer fayre and also being the coordinator for the Tradecraft Stall.  From all of us Patricia a big thank you.

On your behalf I would also like to thank Barbara Clayton for all her support as Warden,  Mark Hackforth-Jones our treasurer, Pauline our PCC secretary and all members of the PCC for their work during 2002/3.

Sunday Club
I was very grateful for all the support given to Sunday Club during Lent.  I enjoyed the time we spent together and the crown that was produced was colourful and symbolic.  Maggie Chick and Carol Court have led or helped in Sunday Club over many years.  Their contribution has been enormous and now they have decided to retire.  We are grateful to Carol and Maggie for all their time in Sunday Club.  New people have come forward and any further help would be gratefully received.

Rogation Sunday
The last of our outside preachers in the course of sermons on outward giving will be Peter West from Christian Aid.  He will be preaching on Rogation Sunday 25th May which also happens to be at the end of Christian Aid week.  With the world events we have witnessed so far this year the demands on organisations like Christian Aid can only grow.  I hope we can come and listen and also do all we can to support Christian Aid Week.

In the evening of Rogation Sunday we will have our annual out door service in the Glebe which will also be shared by other churches in  Merton Park Churches together.

 Your priest and friend
