The
“Children’s Praise Service” is a
development of the New Service of Praise and has been designed for an age
range from babies to six year olds, although we are happy to see siblings
who might be just a little older. Our aim is to bring to life the fun and
spirit of the Christian Gospel in a language and setting attractive to
children of this age.
We
have songs with musical accompaniment – from a CD or piano (or guitar played
by one of the parents) and also the children who can choose from a selection
of child sized tambourines, maracas, and triangles.
We
have an illustrated story – usually with the children sitting on a rug on
the floor around the story teller. We have simple prayers and a birthday
candle and the service is concluded with pizza and drinks and a time for a
chat amongst parents and children.
All
this takes place in the Church Hall at 5.00pm concluding after about
45minutes. The dates of the forthcoming services are May 21st
and June 25th. There will be a break for summer holidays and the
recommencement date will be announced in the magazine. If you have children
between 0 and 6 you will be very welcome as will slightly older siblings if
they feel comfortable with the younger ones.
The
first three services have taken place in the small hall and have been
attended by about ten families. We are especially grateful to all who help
with this service and especially parents…….and of course the children who
enjoy the stories, playing their musical instruments, praying and eating
their pizzas.
