As
summer approaches there are many exciting musical events happening in our
area. The St. Mary's recital series will give me a good dry run for my final
recital at college on the 29th April after Evensong. (Bach, Vierne and
Messiaen)
The
Royal Academy pianist, Chris White is also playing his final programme at
St. Paul's Wimbledon Park on Sat. 12th May 7.00pm. This is a concert that
should not be missed. Chris and I have been students together and I assure
you his playing is breath taking! (Bach and Brahms) On 24th June, David
Terry from Birmingham performs a program of Bach and Reger at St. Mary's
following Evensong.
The
Choir is beginning to prepare for its weeks residency at Exeter Cathedral
(July 30th - August 5th). We are also underway with repertoire preparation
for our tour to Hamburg, Germany in May 2008 where we will give a concert in
the centre Church, St. Petri and lead worship at a Lutheran Mass.
The
Occasional Singers are busy too! They lead worship at Guildford Cathedral in
August joint with the Parish Church Choir from Melton Mobray.
