I really enjoyed "All Age" on Mothering Sunday. Need to
do a double take? I did!! I enjoyed the tone and appreciated the desire
to "thank Mum".
God must have had something really special in mind to have brought us
into the world by the way of a mother's love. The bond between a Mum and
baby appears to be like no other. Nonetheless, we forget those early
years, while Mother's cherish them for ever!
Mothering Sunday at Merton reminded me that despite our own lapse of
memory about our infancy we do manage to retain something in spite of
our weakness. When we forget or take for granted, this service acts as a
reminder to be thankful to God for Mum and to see if it might be good
to be mindful of God's purpose in bringing her and my life together.
Even if a mother should be deceased, how might she be a tool in God's
hands? What qualities in Mum can help to strengthen our own character?
How can I emulate the good that I see in her?
The service was a means of overcoming my forgetfulness. Thank you!
