'It' is the organisation of a
money-raising event to fund St Mary's outward
giving
to missions and other charitable
activities. If you have an idea for an
event and the will to organise it in
2006, we'd love to hear from you!
Each year St Mary's PCC aims to give at least £5,000 to good causes both
international and local, to fulfil our Christian obligation to
help those less
fortunate than ourselves. In recent years, we have raised this money from
dedicated, special events -
if planned giving levels were higher, we could
avoid the need to run special events but for now special events it is!
Examples of events this year have included:
a share of the Messiah
production profits, the Curry Evening (April) and the forthcoming Auction
of Promises.
If you "know you can do it", please get in touch with me, the Vicar or the
Treasurer, Mark Hackforth-Jones. You know it makes sense: and think of the
joy you will help to deliver to someone
with real needs.
