I
have had a fantastic summer of music, ranging from accompanying visiting
choirs at Coventry and Guildford Cathedrals, a successful residency with
Sine Nomine at Ely Cathedral and singing for BBC Radio 4 at Manchester.
However one of the most touching moments came at the Royal Hospital for
Neuro-Disability at West Hill, Putney where I found myself on a jazz organ
playing "Ain't misbehavin" for a singing group of really appreciative
people. It was good for me to be thrown out of my ivory tower of Palestrina
and Bairstow and make music at grass root level where music was more than
fun it was essential therapy.
I am
hoping to take our choir there, as I believe we should as a choir take our
music ministry out into the community to those less fortunate. I am in the
process of arranging this.
The
hospital is desperate for volunteer staff and would welcome any help.
Please consider it!

Hope
you all had a restful and enjoyable summer.
