St Mary's Choir has just completed a busy schedule of visits around the country, singing services in no less than four cathedrals, plus a concert in Dorking.

Most recently, over the weekend of 27-28 July the choir sang three choral services - two Evensongs and Sunday's Eucharist - at Bristol Cathedral. There was also time (just!) to fit in a trip to SS Great Britain over Sunday lunchtime.

Earlier in February the choir sang for Candlemas at Guildford Cathedral, followed, for the junior choristers a few weeks later, with a trip to Trinity College Oxford to sing a joint Evensong with the College choir.

Roll forward to mid-April and the full choir were on the road again, this time to sing Evensong at Ely Cathedral. The choristers immediately headed off to Dorking to sing in the Leith Music Festival’s performance of Carl Orff’s famous cantata ‘Carmina Burana’.

Then early June saw the full choir take the short trip to our own Diocesan Cathedral at Southwark to sing for the Diocesan Confirmation service.

Thankfully, the choir have August off - apart from five of the back row who are revisiting Ely Cathedral for a full week of choral services there from 19th to 26th as part of a choir from Sanderstead, with which we've had a 20 year relationship!

Our photo shows the choir at the High Altar in Bristol Cathedral, together with Vicar John Hayward (far right).
