Refurbishing your Community Hall for the 21st Century
For nearly sixty years, St Mary’s Parish Hall has opened its doors to the Merton Park community. It's the local meeting place for organisations and classes, and community and family events – weddings, parties, meetings, quizzes, Summer and Christmas fairs, and the ever popular Parish Players Pantomime.
Generations of families have been coming to the Hall over the past sixty years, rightly seeing it as part of their own history.
Our Hall
The 1964 building is beginning to show its age. Over the last few years, thanks to a very kind legacy, much work has been done to bring our hall up to 21st century standards. The small hall, kitchen, foyer and toilets have all been refurbished.
Now we are turning our attention to the main hall, office and smaller meeting rooms. The planned work aims to reduce our energy use and carbon footprint by:
- Replacing single glazed windows and exit doors
- Improving thermal insulation
- Replacing the original electrics and lighting
- Completing the fire detection system
Much of this work will be invisible to the eye, but will provide a more energy efficient space with good ventilation.
Our Target
Thank you to all those who have generously donated to the Hall Refurbishment appeal.
We have reached our target and work is due to begin on Monday 11 July. The appeal will remain open until that date, and donations are still welcome.
We hope to reopen again by mid-September. Your donations will help us create a warm, welcoming community Hall for many years to come.
